| Looking at barns from outside, one can see the roof made of corrugated
steel sheets, while the old red-brick walls remain the same as they have

| Getting there : - Kaomai Lanna Hotel & Resort is located at Km.29th on the Chiang Mai-Hod highway. From the Chiang Mai gate. The yellow bus to Chom Thong or Tung Siew can take you to the resort for 10 Baht a person - The resort bus also provide free-of-charged from Chiang Mai International Airport, Arcade bus station and Chiang Mai Railway station. Please contact in advance. Attractions nearby : Doi Inthanon The resort is located at Km.29 on the Chiang Mai-Hod Road, halfway to Chom thong district, a junction on the way up to Doi Inthanon, Thailand's highest peak. Travellers can drop in to avoid crowed Chom thong for a coffee break or a meal at the resort on the way or during the return journey. Mae Wang Before Climbing up to Doi Inthanon, some people take a soft adventure trip first-whitewater rafting in the jungle stream of Mae Wang is one popular option. The site is 26 Km. west of San Pa Tong district (turn right at Km 22 of the Chiang Mai-Hod highway). Travelling along the winding river on a bamboo raft costs 200 Bath for 4 people. Ban Kad An elephant show and elephant ride are also available daily at elephant camp at Ban Kad. The one-hour trip cost 300 Bath for two people. Ban Viang After an adventurous trip in the hills, guests who stay at the resort can visit the lively market at " Ban Viang ". Held each Sunday morning , it is a big livestock market for water buffaloes and cattle. Each weekend , up to 4,000 buffaloes and cattle are traded along with many local farm products as they have been for generations. As the market started as early as 5 am, you may see buyers and sellers closing deals by candlelight. Viang Tha Karn Another interesting outing is the short sightseeing trip to the historical site at Viang Tha Karn, three kilometres from the resort, to see the ruins of an 800-year-old town. Visitors can wander through a cluster of ancient pagodas, and view Buddha images and ruins of ancient temples reflecting the glory days from Haripon-Chai to the Lanna Kingdom in the 13th Century before the establishment of Chiang Mai. Ob-Luang Ob-luang National park is a picturesque gorge around 105 kilometres from Chaing Mai provincial capital and is framed by teak forests and mountains. During the rainy season, the flowering rapids crashing on the boulders and through the ravine are a dramatic picture of natural's strength. Ob-Khan Ob-khan National park is the finest opportunities for experiencing nature with the real typical forest. Exploring caves, many waterfalls, and hotspring. Should not miss Ob-Karn the gorge 30 metres high which Mae khan canal run through. |
